Book X - Chapter II

1. "(It is the combinative) cause" such (intuition and usage), with regard to substance, (arise) from the combination [inherence] of effect (in it).

2. And, through conjunction, (substance becomes the efficient or conditional cause also).

3. Through combination in the (combinative) cause, actions (are non combinative causes).

8. The performance of acts of observed utility and of acts the purpose whereof has been taught (in the sacred writings) is for the production of adrsta [destiny], (as these teachings are authoritative being the word of God in whom) the defects found in ordinary speakers do not exist.
